Timothy Haworth-Staines, Utila Dive Center
PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer

Timothy Haworth-Staines has lived the past 18 years in the South of France after his family moved there from the UK.

Having done his full education in France he is now fluent in both languages. Manual labour has always attracted Tim which is why he followed his father’s footsteps in studying carpentry to then join the family business Just Kitchens.

Timothy’s true passion for scuba diving came from volunteering on a marine conservation project in Ao Nang, Thailand. This is where he decided that he wanted to be able to teach and share the wonderful underwater world with everyone.

He quotes “Teaching is a bit like painting a wall, I get instant satisfaction as I can see the results and improvement of my students”.

In 2021 he did his PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with Utila Dive Center in Honduras along with other specialties including wreck diving which is his favourite. In 2022 he made the decision to have a break from the family business and to teach scuba diving at Utila Dive Center.

Utila has been very attractive for Tim not only due to the fantastic diving, but also the island life itself.

Asides from diving Timothy has a big passion for road cycling along with many other outdoor activities including wakeboarding, snowboarding and swimming. Timothy would like to share a podcast channel called “Get Talking” which discusses the general mental health of humans and how to overcome problems. They can be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and on the internet.
